Where I live, on a rural property just off Fairbanks Road there are many trees like this one displaying their red flowers in abundance.  There are so many that they are just part of the landscape and one blurs into the next.  I wanted to paint this piece to bring attention to the tough rugged tree that we all pass without noticing.  The big strong sense of them while looking closer the stunning crimson red flowers elegantly hanging from long stems ooze unique beauty.  I love how strong and vivid the flowers can be while at the same time appearing so soft and delicate.
